WEST ALLIS, Wis. – The Wisconsin Dental Association today released the following statement from WDA President Dr. Paula Crum, a Green Bay periodontist:
“As the COVID-19 vaccine rollout commences, the Wisconsin Dental Association has been working tirelessly to ensure Phase 1-A dentists and their clinical staff are vaccinated as quickly and efficiently as possible. As soon as vaccines were approved in mid-December, we proactively reached out to local public health officials to help coordinate efforts. Local health departments were very responsive to that outreach, but the continued void of information on how or when unaffiliated providers would be vaccinated has posed challenges for everyone.
“Luckily, our state is blessed with wonderful health systems, many of which are now stepping up to open vaccinations to dental teams and other Phase-1A health care providers. Wisconsin’s hospitals are serving as strong partners, and the WDA is grateful for their commitment to their community healthcare colleagues. We are pleased to be working with SSM Health, Marshfield Clinic Health System, Stoughton Hospital and HSHS/Prevea to connect our members and their clinical staff with vaccines. As more health systems begin to reach out to unaffiliated Phase-1A health providers, the WDA stands ready and willing to assist in these efforts. Please contact Director of Government Services Chris Borgerding at [email protected] to help facilitate these efforts.”
