1,300+ volunteer dentists, dental hygienists and assistants, dental students and community helpers from 188 communities statewide 2-day Wisconsin Dental Association and WDA Foundation Mission of Mercy
Exposition Center at Wisconsin State Fair Park to be transformed into large-scale dental clinic treating adults and children with limited financial resources or otherwise unable to visit a dental office
WHEN: Patient Care* – Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23
Setup on Thursday, June 21
Clinic door opens at 5:30 a.m. both days; approximately 1,000 patients treated daily on first-come, first-served basis until about 5 p.m.
*Note: 35 Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes to receive care during MOM
WHERE: Exposition Center at Wisconsin State Fair Park, 8200 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis (Enter through Gate 4 off 84th Street and park in designated volunteer lot in southwest corner of park.)
Interview and story opportunities:
- “Walk the line” with a public relations liaison and interview MOM patients waiting in line (some overnight) for the clinic to open.
- See MOM in action by touring the clinic floor; interview patients, dentists and other volunteers about this large-scale charitable effort to reduce barriers to oral health care.
- Talk with dental professionals about why charity events like MOM aren’t the final solution to our state’s dental crisis and how dentists, patients and lawmakers working together can improve the oral health – and overall health – of Badger State residents.
