I know you. You are committed to the dental profession. You are very likely someone who has regularly volunteered, even a leader in civic organizations or where you worship.
I am certain you are a part of the community you serve. You are part of the proverbial choir to which I preach.
I can say with a high degree of confidence that less than a quarter of Wisconsin Dental Association members will ever read these words. We all receive the printed, bimonthly WDA Journal and have access to the new quarterly WDAJ-Now app, WDA Insider member-only blog/e-blasts and the member-only section on WDA.org.
However, many are not engaged enough to take the time to discover everything the WDA has to offer.
They must care about the profession, at least a little bit, since they made a financial commitment to belong to the WDA. But, there remains a disconnect.
There are probably 100 different reasons why our colleagues are not involved, ranging from a lifeless component society, a long, festering grudge or simply too many demands on their time.
The WDA has made a substantial investment to improve our ability to efficiently communicate with our members.
Most of you probably have a smartphone or tablet.
Go to the Apple, Google Play or Amazon app stores and download the publicly available WDAJ-Now app.
Then, tell your colleagues and staff to do the same, so that everyone can stay connected to organized dentistry.
We must reach out to those on the sidelines and convince them we need their talents and insights. Encourage them to get involved and to join WDA online conversations or email comments to [email protected].
The WDA exists solely for the benefit of all the members of the dental profession.
If we can’t engage those beyond just the choir, then the WDA may just wither away.
