Another year, and another CDT 2021. The CDT 2021 is the dental office reference manual that the ADA publishes on an annual basis.
This manual contains all the Code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature (CDT Code) which is the national terminology for reporting dental services on claims submitted to insurance companies.
For 2021, there are 28 new codes, 7 revised codes, and 4 deleted code. CDT 2021 also includes some commonly used ICD-10-CM (diagnosis) codes that are applicable to dentistry.
It is important for offices to update their systems to coincide with these changes so they can reflect the proper billing code for treatments performed.
