The Dentistry Examining Board issued long-expected guidelines for dentists who prescribe controlled substances.
In combination with the mandatory Prescription Drug Monitoring Program, these guidelines aim to encourage prescribers to avoid opioids for their patients unless absolutely necessary and to ensure that patients have all the information they need.
While not binding, these guidelines are best practice as endorsed by the DEB. WDA provided important feedback on these guidelines before they were issued.
