One question twins always get asked is: How can people tell you apart? The answer: Don’t worry about it. Being a twin means you expect to be called the wrong name as much as the right, but it never bothers us. Twins have two names, but one identity. With those two names comes a promised best friend for life, and an indescribably close relationship.
We may not have known what career we would choose early on, but one certainty was we would be together. One day while getting my braces tightened my orthodontist, who is also a twin, mused, “Wouldn’t it be funny if you and Austin decided to go into dentistry like my brother?” That one sentence planted the seed that would bring the Dodge twins to Marquette University School of Dentistry.
Nowadays, you can find us treating patients at school, volunteering at a Wisconsin Dental Association, American Dental Association or American Student Dental Association event, advocating for dentistry at the state and national level and occasionally out on the town in Milwaukee.
It’s an honor to already be part of an organization dedicated to ensuring that a bright future awaits us once we graduate. We look forward to continuing to be involved in organized dentistry for many years to come and welcome more dentists and students to join the WDA!
We both look forward to meeting you and await the day when we can stand proudly with you as WDA member dentists in the great state of Wisconsin!
Thank you for sharing a bit of your story. It has been a great privilege for me to be volunteering with the Dodge brothers at both MOM and WDA events. You will both do great things for our profession!
