“I have completed John’s treatment. He wanted to send you a picture of the two of us showing off his new smile! John was a pleasure to treat! I absolutely adore this man! He came in today to receive his partial and brought me a dozen red roses….what a charmer.
The humor and gratitude this man brought to our office would encourage anyone to participate in this program. Thank you so very much for allowing me the opportunity to know and care for John.” – Dr. Jennifer R. Peglow (Stevens Point)
Do you know a veteran in need of dental care?
Do you know a low income senior with unmet dental needs?
Would you be willing to help someone in your community improve their oral health?
Since 1998, the Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation’s Donated Dental Services (DDS) program has been providing comprehensive dental care at no charge to adults who cannot work due to a permanent disability, chronic illness or advanced age (65 or older) and public aid programs do not meet their oral health needs.
The goal of the DDS program is to restore an individual’s oral health to a level that the patient can maintain.
In the past, the DDS program took outside applications and matched patients with dentists, but we’re trying something new. In additions to accepting and matching applications from the general population, we are asking you, our WDA members to help us target deserving individuals who fit the program criteria listed above. It could be the low income senior who can only afford to have part of her oral treatment completed or the veteran who has been struggling with oral problems. Let us know who they are and if you would be willing to help them with the backing of the Donated Dental Services program.
Our staff will work with your office and the client to schedule appointments. We will work with needed specialists and dental laboratories…freeing up your staff time for other patients.
Thus far, more than $12 million of free dental treatment has been provided to very grateful patients! The program operates through a volunteer network of dentists and dental laboratories who donate their time and talents to help those in need in their communities. Dentists who volunteer provide all treatment in their own offices utilizing their own staff and equipment.
If you know someone who could be helped by the DDS program encourage them to apply. Applications are available here or call 888-338-6852.
If you would like to become a volunteer or know someone who might benefit from the DDS program, please contact Carol Shoemaker at [email protected] or 888-338-6852 for more information.
