The Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation’s ninth Mission of Mercy clinic is taking place June 22-23 at the Exposition Center at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis. Over the years, this biennial event has moved throughout our state and the Greater Milwaukee Dental Association is excited to bring it to the southeastern Wisconsin area with Wisconsin’s largest city.
The WDA MOM program provides oral health care to anyone who has difficulty visiting a dentist. Children and adults without a medically-compromising condition who show up for care are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
The first MOM clinic was held by America’s Dentists Care Foundation in Virginia in 2000. Today, these events can be found nationwide where they’ve helped more than 254,000 patients and provided $166 million in free oral health care since 2003. In Wisconsin, more than 13,715 children and adults have received in excess of $9.18 million in donated care through MOM events since 2009.
Because this year’s Mission of Mercy is in Wisconsin’s largest city, as well as the largest media market, participants should prepare themselves for possible media coverage. On our website, we post facts about the event to assist. If you receive a media inquiry or are interested in serving as a spokesperson, please contact WDA Communications & Public Relations Coordinator Christine Dunbeck at [email protected] or 414-755-4110.
