By now, most members have heard about the meeting between WDA and Delta Dental of Wisconsin that took place on Dec. 4 in Madison. As reported, we were very pleased with the outcome and appreciate Delta Dental’s willingness to sit down and discuss various provisions contained in the provider agreement that was mailed just before Thanksgiving.
As soon as the new provider agreement arrived in dental office mailboxes, the WDA started receiving calls and emails from our members. WDA staff obtained a copy of the contract and did a thorough review of language and immediately identified several areas of concern. We discussed the situation with our attorneys and developed a list of items that we determined to be problematic.
I contacted Delta’s CEO Denny Peterson to suggest a meeting so we could relay the concerns of our members. Representing WDA was Dr. Pat Tepe, Matt Rossetto and Erika Valadez from our legislative office. Denny Peterson and Network Development Manager Lynn Selissen attended on behalf of Delta Dental.
The discussion was frank and open, but also cordial and extremely productive. As a result, we were able to come to an understanding on several key issues. Following the meeting, Delta Dental drafted and distributed a memo to all providers modifying and clarifying five key provisions in the contract.
On behalf of WDA, I want to recognize Delta Dental of Wisconsin for its willingness to sit down and resolve the situation in a professional manner.
Please feel free to contact our office with any questions.
