Prospective patients seeking to establish dental homes with Wisconsin Dental Association member dentists searched the Find-a-Dentist® online directory an estimated 37,000 times in 2017, thanks to the WDA Own Your Smile and the American Dental Association’s See Your ADA Dentist public awareness/patient utilization campaigns.
Another 7,929 Find-a-Dentist® visits were logged by Wisconsin adults in 2018 between Jan. 1 and March 13.
The 51.7 percent of practicing WDA members with a photo in their online profiles have two distinct advantages when prospective patients are looking to book dental appointments: Profiles with photos appear higher in Find-a-Dentist® search results, and they receive 11 times more clicks by consumers than profiles without a photo.
In a national survey of consumers using Find-a-Dentist®, 70 percent gave the new and improved online directory a “thumbs up” rating. Lack of photos is a contributing factor to consumers being “not satisfied.”
Find-a-Dentist® is a free and valuable marketing tool for your dental practice. You (or an authorized member of your staff) can complete your online profile in less than five minutes:
- Visit ADA.org/myFADprofile and log in using your ADA number as your user ID and ADA.org password.
- Upload your profile photo and personal information, including your practice’s primary email.
- Fill in your office address, phone and hours of operation. The flexible format lets you add multiple locations and office hours.
- Add practice information, such as website, years in practice, payment options and languages spoken.
- Click “Finish” when done.

This year, the ADA and WDA campaigns will invest a combined $6,260,000 into online advertising aimed at driving dental consumers to the Find-a-Dentist® directory and into members’ offices. (The WDA campaign also includes a limited TV ad buy during Green Bay Packers’ preseason games.)
