May the ‘view’ be with you
The force of social media is strong, so you’ll need to add the title of social media-master to your DDS or DMD to keep up.
With the internet getting inundated with new content every second, how can your practice stand out? Creating unique video content is a great way to tell a compelling story and reach a large local audience at a low cost. You don’t have to have a big budget video to produce great results.
So, what’s the first step to utilizing video? Owning a smartphone! Okay, now that you and your 6-year-old child probably already have that covered it’s time to start creating great content.
You can use your phone’s built-in camera to take a simple video or download an app with more kick, like Magisto, to make your videos look professionally edited. Use videos to showcase your office or for short interviews to familiarize your audience with your team and the environment. Videos are also a great way to capture testimonials, as well as showcase your work! Ask great patients to share their experience in two minutes or less, but be sure to gain consent before producing or posting the video! Once you have your video ready, pick the social platforms you want to share it on and try to schedule the post for the morning. Good content can go far, racking up hundreds of views and making you look like the most popular doc on the block!
Power of the dollar
Are you focusing on targeting and reaching more people? Consider pushing your videos with ads. A client of ours recently created a video about his practice, and we used a $300 budget and targeted ads to get 30,000+ views. Over 1,500 people watched the full two-and-a-half minute video. Best of all, the video targeted the exact audience demographic our client was interested in reaching.
Keeping up with the algorithms
Over the last year, videos have proven to be more engaging and shareable than your standard image post.
Not only are videos more powerful, but social platforms prefer showing them. In 2016, Facebook updated their algorithm to prioritize videos in users’ feeds. You may have noticed videos auto play on your Facebook newsfeed. If you watch for three seconds or more this is counted as a “view.” Getting “views” helps spread your content to similar groups of people with shared interests and behaviors. Posting high-engagement content like videos helps your practice reach those groups and create social online referrals.
If you haven’t yet used videos on social media, start small. Come up with a list of questions you and your team can answer in short, unedited videos. Candid videos always make for good content!
Ultimately, make sure the content you are creating and posting on social media is unique, and start leveraging video as a platform to reach new patients and boost engagement through views.
Finally, do us everyone a favor and make sure your phone is horizontal when you take your next video!
On your upcoming journey through the world of social media, may the video views be with you!
