In what doesn’t seem like that long ago I was first volunteering as a translator at the Wisconsin Dental Association Foundation Mission of Mercy event in Madison. So began my foray into organized dentistry. Little did I know then how much the WDA would mold and shape me into the (almost) dental professional I am today.
As the WDA representative for the class of 2018, I was charged with being the voice of my class in the arena of organized dentistry. Countless experiences at the House of Delegates, Board meetings and volunteer events like MOM and Give Kids A Smile have shown me what an absolutely invaluable resource the WDA is for students, dentists, hygienists, specialists and all dental personnel. I am truly grateful to all the trustees on the board, WDA staff members and the many doctors who have offered mentorship. You have all shaped and changed me. Assuredly, some of my favorite memories of dental school involve serving on the Board of Trustees. I am looking forward to continuing my involvement alongside the many friends I have made, and hope to develop into a leader in organized dentistry that my mentors would be proud of!
Thank you to all reading this post for everything you do for organized dentistry. Your commitment to the betterment and improvement of the profession is inspiring to me and I pray that you are as proud as I am to be a member of the nation’s best professional organization: the Wisconsin Dental Association!
