Over the past nine years, the WDA Foundation State Dental Golf Classic has become an important fundraising event that helps to support various programs assisting dentists and the general community. We don’t want to see this great event end, but this year marks a turning point. Our registration numbers are down substantially from past years and unless we hear from you, today, the Golf Classic may be history.
This longtime event traces its roots back to informal golf excursions from the mid-1940s when the Annual Session of the Wisconsin State Dental Association was held in Milwaukee. In 1965, the Wisconsin State Dental Society Annual Golf Tournament was created and in 2011, it transitioned into a fundraising event that has raised more than $95,000 to support the charitable programs of the WDA Foundation.
The registration deadline is Friday, Aug. 30, but if you are planning to golf, please don’t wait until the last minute. We need you to send in your registration today so we can determine if there will be enough golfers attending to meet our required minimum of 72.
The registration fee remains unchanged at $195 per golfer and will include the use of a golf cart, 18 holes of golf, a buffet lunch and dinner, a cash bar with two drink tickets provided and an awards program following the round. Again this year, $35 from each registration fee will directly support the WDA Foundation and its programs.
You can choose to play standard golf or a scramble format.* The event goes on rain or shine and you don’t need to be a dentist to participate. Friends and family are welcome. This is an event for golfers of all ages and abilities. This year’s event takes place on Sept. 16 at the North Hills Country Club in Menomonee Falls.
The WDA Foundation is also seeking sponsors for the event. Sponsorships start at just $200. Local dental societies and dental groups are urged to show their support with a sponsorship.
