Part of the mission of the Wisconsin Dental Association is to, “…advance the interests of WDA members and the dental profession by promoting … quality oral health care for the public.” To help your professional association succeed in its mission, the WDA Communications Committee and staff actively promote public awareness topics to your patients and to the general public to help improve oral health throughout the state.
Although the topics and communication channels vary, all the messages advocate for improved oral health. For example:
- Tips for helping children develop good oral hygiene habits during National Children’s Dental Health Month
- Facts about community water fluoridation benefits shared every other week on Fluoride Fridays
- Wisconsin statistics about tobacco use as it relates to oral health and World No Tobacco Day
Over the course of one year, WDA communications staff shares oral health related information on more than 100 topics with the public.
Help us get the word out by sharing WDA social media posts, forwarding quarterly issues of the Tongue ‘n’ Cheek…and Teeth, too! patient e-newsletter and encouraging colleagues (members and nonmembers) to download our revised, biweekly WDAJ-Now app. You can also visit our website for more information: https://blog.wda.org/dental-professionals/members-only/public-awareness.
Thank you for helping raise awareness on important oral hygiene topics from flossing to International Eat an Apple Day to Healthy Aging Month to everything in between.
