Receiving the WDA Lifetime Achievement Award was the greatest honor in my professional career. It means so much to me to receive this award from my colleagues for doing something I have thoroughly enjoyed.
I never dreamed that I would have been as involved as I have been over the years.
I know I would not have been as involved, if it was not for the encouragement that I received along the way from my colleagues and friends in organized dentistry. Those dentists who I looked up to always encouraged me to get more involved and often believed more in my abilities than I did at the time.
A rewarding part for me over the years, has been to recognize dentists who have demonstrated leadership potential and to encourage them to take on roles that perhaps they did not think they could handle.
Like you, I have found many Wisconsin Dental Association members and other folks in the community who advocate for our patients, our profession and organized dentistry and who give back to the community on dental-related issues.
Many of these individuals deserve to be considered for one of the many Pyramid of Pride Awards the WDA presents annually.
Receiving a WDA Pyramid of Pride Award is a distinct honor.
I encourage you all to review the categories of the Pyramid of Pride Awards and to nominate individuals and groups that are deserving of such recognition.
It is easy to do and it is a wonderful way to recognize those who do great things for dentistry and the community.
