Each year, the WDA Foundation depends on the generosity of WDA members who make donations on their dues statement. These donations help the Foundation meet its operating expenses, which is vitally important to keep the Foundation functioning. Your gifts, no matter what the amount, help assure that staff can focus their efforts on improving charitable oral care for those in need.
Unfortunately, donations made on the WDA dues statement have been in decline for several years. It is likely that the economy, the pandemic and a variety of other factors can be blamed for this decline. Whatever the reason, the WDA Foundation is finding itself in a difficult spot.
Improving Wisconsin’s oral health takes money and dedication. Generally, the majority of annual donations to the WDA Foundation are received in December and January directly on the dues statements, but in December 2021, just over $14,000 was raised through dues statement donations. That is about half of what is typically raised in that month.
For the WDA Foundation to continue its efforts your support is needed. If the Foundation is unable to raise an additional $45,000 from WDA membership, it is very likely its charitable programs will begin to see major changes. Those changes may severely impact grants to nonprofit oral care clinics, scholarships to dental and dental hygiene students and other important programs that you, our members, have told us that you want to see continue.
If you have not yet donated, please consider joining your colleagues by including an annual donation on your dues statement or by making an individual donation online here: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/wisconsin-dental-association-foundation-inc
The WDA Foundation really needs your help to continue supporting dental health for Wisconsin residents and to strengthen dentistry for today and for the future. Thank you for joining us in this effort!
